Imagine if you threw saosin and underoath's riffs together and mixed in christian hardcore vocals, then you'd find yourself graced with Vallon. They've got some serious potential, so show some support.

  • Band of the Day - Pale New Dawn

Pale New Dawn is a super sad and depressingly awesome post-hardcore band from right here in Saugus, California.

They're named after a Jets to Brazil song, which is some pretty sweet stuff; check them out at their myspace.

  • Band of the Day - Big Japan

Big Japan, a name that inspires for a lot, and with a refined sound it may deliver.

    http://romanticsatwar.com/imgupload/thumbs/9_704187406_l.jpg

"Big Japan is a four-piece indie rock band from Los Angeles, with Nathanial Castro on vocals and guitar and Brad Babinski on bass. Actors Adam Brody and Bret Harrison play drums and guitar, respectively. The band only performs, writes and records sporadically given Brody and Harrison’s unpredictable acting schedules."

If you took modern day indie and added some of the 90s pop-rock sound, you'd get a lot of Big Japan's sound, definitely catch them out.

  • Band of the Day - Pat the Human

"It's the workout song, you know the sound. Drop down to the ground, gonna lose a pound."  Two words: Pure class.

    http://romanticsatwar.com/imgupload/thumbs/9_l_7b4d5c1a8c1b9b5e79b4a9525a01b3a3.jpg

"Late one night, from a once-desert suburb of Dallas, Texas, arose seven beings, determined to do something worthwhile with their lives: setting out to change the future of music. At first there was only five: Corey (vocals), Pico (vocals), Colton (guitar), Colin (bass), and Ramone (drums). This collection of creative individuals wrote two original, off-the-wall, rockin' songs in mid 2007 and learned a legendary cover song by a goddess of pop, Kelly Clarkson. They took these tunes to an at-the-time local record producer who had been hailed for his talent in record producing, Geoff Rockwell (Forever the Sickest Kids, Memphis May Fire), where they recorded a 3 song EP to release a couple weeks later. The songs were an instant, local hit on Myspace and Purevolume. Feeling good, the team was ready to step things up. "

Hahaha, check it off if you like metalcore or southern hardcore.

  • Band of the Day - Chevelle

Remember the early thousands?  Remember Nu Metal?  Well, there was a band that was in it that was actually interesting, and surprisingly enough good!  Chevelle, best known for The Red and Wonder What's Next.

    http://romanticsatwar.com/imgupload/thumbs/9_994877881_l.jpg

"Inspired by the lurching riffs of Helmet and the soft/loud vocal styling of Tool, Chicago-based trio Chevelle’s aggressive, heavy sound is all about mounting tension exploding into raw guitar bursts. In 1999, Chevelle released their Steve Albini-produced debut album, Point #1, on Squint Entertainment. Three years later — and following tours with bands like Filter, Sevendust, Powerman 5000, and Machine Head — the band had inked a deal with Epic and issued Wonder What’s Next, released in August 2002. The album went platinum by the next summer and their second single, “Send the Pain Below,” was a number one hit on modern rock and mainstream radio."

Seriously though, I dislike pretty much all Nu Metal, but I cannot deny that I love The Red and pretty much the whole Wonder What's Next release, and they haven't stopped playing since then.

  • Band of the Day - Dananananaykroyd

Dananetcaykroyd are a Glasgow band that's very catchy and more than a little bit awesome.

    http://www.moshimoshimusic.com/_resources/artists_28/biog/dananananaykroyd.jpg

"Dananananaykroyd are an all-or-nothing scrapey guitar rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. 2 electric guitars, 2 drums, 1 bass, 1 vocals and a live show of clattering, shambolic funtimes since 2006."

Dananananaykroyd's fight pop is really one of the more catchy things you can find in the music scene right now. Check them, a rare find but if you can its well worth it.
